This work is heavily influenced by Ceanne de Rohan's Right Use of Will series which I was reading at the time. There was a point in the series where the goddess aspect was creating the world as her fertility demanded of her. After the world's creation, she was hunted by another feminine aspect of the godhead (for being so prolific the godhead couldn't keep up with the consequences) so she hid beneath the earth while her nemesis searched the sky.
The god of her book is pretty much the traditional Christian God visually presented as an older-looking Jesus but, curiously, as a god that can evolve.
Although the main goddess face was deliberately painted in, it wasn't till much later that I noticed the godess shape in the sky ... and above her, a Christ-like face.
The darkness of the godess' face was carved out by me. The rest was left as it was.
I never touched the Christ-like face above the clouds and didn't even know it was there till years after the painting's creation.
